Why do I need to choose a theme, name the swap, and set a deadline to send a postcard to a random person?

A random postcard swap is an exchange where you send a postcard and receive one in return from the same person. When participating in a random postcard swap, setting a theme, naming the swap, and establishing a deadline creates clarity, structure, and a sense of shared expectations for both you and your swap partner.

Note:
All swaps on Snail Mail Friends are exchanges, except for the One-way Postcard and Random Act of Kindness swaps. These two types use the same interface so they can be rated, but they do not involve an exchange.

To set up a random postcard swap, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the menu: Go to [Send a swap] and choose [Request a random postcard].
  2. Fill out the swap details: You’ll need to provide a title, theme, image, description, and deadline. This helps your partner understand what type of swap they are accepting.
  3. Deadline: The deadline tells your partner the latest date by which they should send the postcard.
  4. Submit your request: After filling out the details, your request will be sent to a random Snail Mail Friends member.
  5. Accept the swap: When the recipient accepts the swap, the exchange can proceed.
  6. Rating: After receiving the postcard, your partner can leave a rating for the swap, helping improve the experience for both parties.
