What are Snail Mail Friends Angels?

At Snail Mail Friends, our angels help ensure that members receive their swaps in events. However, angels are only assigned for event swaps—they do not cover personal swaps or other private exchanges. Being an angel is a volunteer role, and it requires a commitment to respond to messages and act on requests in a timely manner.

How the angel system works:

1. Angel assignments for event swaps only: Angels are assigned exclusively for swaps in organized events. Personal swaps or swaps arranged outside of events are not eligible for angel assistance.
2. Communication and response: If you sign up to be an angel, it’s essential to respond to angel requests and messages. When you receive a request to angel, you can either accept or decline it. If you decline, the requesting member will not know that you specifically declined.
3. Voluntary swaps for members missing a swap: As an angel, you send a swap voluntarily to members who did not receive their swap from their original event partner. Your participation helps create a positive experience within the community, but you remain in control and can decline requests if needed.
4. The resend process:
   • If a swap is marked as lost, the system will first send a resend request to the original swap partner.
   • If the original partner declines to resend, a request will then be made to the event creator.
   • If the event creator also declines, or if the creator has indicated they are not available to angel for the event, we will look for other angels to fulfill the request.
5. Angel request flexibility: Receiving a request to angel does not obligate you. You have the option to decline each request, giving you full control to decide when and how you participate. You can cancel your angel status at any time.

How to become a Snail Mail Friends angel:

1. Log in to your Snail Mail Friends account.
2. Go to Account > View and edit your Profile.
3. Navigate to Preferences.
4. Enable the option I will angel lost swaps.
5. Click on Save Changes.
