The Snail Mail Friends rating system is designed to evaluate the swap itself, not the individual person or whether a swap was sent on time. This approach ensures that feedback remains constructive and focuses solely on how well the swap meets the requirements specified in the swap details.

How to use the rating system:

1. Check swap details: Before starting a swap, read the swap guidelines carefully to understand what’s expected.
2. Review your partner's profile: Look at your swap partner’s profile to get a sense of their skill level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). This helps set realistic expectations and creates a positive experience for both sides.

Rate with stars and hearts:

• Star rating: The star rating is for the swap itself and is visible to the community. This rating reflects how well the swap met the specified requirements, focusing on aspects like creativity, effort, and adherence to the theme.
• Heart rating: The heart rating is visible only to you and your swap partner. It’s intended for personal feedback, allowing you to let your partner know how much the swap resonated with you. Since personal taste is subjective, the heart rating is private and does not affect the public rating.

Handling unsent or unreceived Swaps:

Swaps that were not sent or have not been received do not impact the rating. Instead, this information is displayed on each member’s profile with two specific counts:

• Failed to send count: This count is a clear red flag and shows the number of swaps that a member agreed to but did not send.
• Lost count: This count reflects swaps that have been marked as lost, which can happen for various reasons, such as postal issues or delays. This count does not necessarily reflect poorly on the member.

Platinum members using Swap Trackr+ may receive ratings from non-members. These ratings are for personal reference only and do not affect a member’s overall rating on Snail Mail Friends.
